Aviano Participates in Exercise Iron Hand

A U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons from the 510th Fighter Squadron participate in exercise Iron Hand, March 4, 2015, at Aviano Air Base, Italy.

The exercise, which included aircraft from Aviano and RAF Base Mildenhall, England, was designed to enhance interoperability over southern France. Through forward presence and ready forces, U.S. Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa executes missions in support of regional and global operations to provide global vigilance, global reach and global power for national objectives across an area spanning 104 countries.

The aircraft were participating in a combined training event designed to enhance interoperability between the two wings and refine techniques and procedures. This type of planned, routine training allows for a key opportunity for U.S. Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa wings to work with each other to ensure they are ready to conduct real-world missions effectively and efficiently when called upon.
